New Delhi, Aug 29: The government’s PARIVARTAN scheme is gaining momentum, with more than 1,300 beneficiaries registering on the portal and 15 automobile manufacturers joining the initiative.
Launched in July, the scheme aims to encourage the replacement of older commercial trucks and buses with cleaner BS-VI or electric vehicles across Delhi-NCR.
The programme has also received support from the financial and automobile sectors. As many as 42 banks and NBFCs have joined the scheme to provide financing support, while 15 auto manufacturers have signed agreements to offer discounts to eligible vehicle owners.
Under the scheme, eligible vehicle owners can benefit from interest savings on vehicle loans, a 10-year road tax waiver and exemption from registration fees. Buyers can also receive discounts from participating vehicle manufacturers.
Additional incentives are available depending on the type of vehicle purchased. Buyers opting for eligible BS-VI diesel or CNG vehicles can receive monthly fuel vouchers, while those purchasing electric vehicles are eligible for a one-time financial incentive.
The scheme is aimed at making it easier for commercial vehicle owners to replace older, high-emission vehicles while supporting the transition towards cleaner transportation in the National Capital Region.
The government is also running awareness campaigns across Delhi-NCR to inform eligible vehicle owners about the benefits and registration process. Outreach activities are being carried out through digital, print and electronic media, as well as at fuel stations, transport hubs, toll plazas and RTOs.
With growing participation from vehicle owners, banks and automobile manufacturers, the PARIVARTAN scheme is expected to gain further traction and contribute to efforts to reduce transport-related pollution in the region.
