Divani Opens Its First Store in Hyderabad: A Homecoming for Craft, Couture and Cultural Memory

Celebrity Guests Namrata Shirodkar Babu, Former Indian Actress; Shreedevi Chowdary, Actor & Producer; Divya Boppana, Content Creator & Influencer; Sudha Reddy, Philanthropist & Art Collector; & Sanya Dhir, Founder, Divani; graced the unveiling of the flagship store of Divani’s Hyderabad celebrating the craft, culture & couture of Hindustan; from Divani & Mubarak; today at Divani Couture, Banjara Hills.

Designed by Habitat Architects, the space reimagines heritage craftsmanship within a contemporary architectural framework, creating an environment where tradition and modernity coexist seamlessly. This new space elevates the conventional boutique into an intimate couture salon, unfolding along a ceremonial spatial axis. Anchored in a rich palette of dark timber, classical arches, and luminous crystal chandeliers, the space evokes both intimacy and quiet grandeur.

At the heart of this launch is a couture collection, inspired by the legacy of Hyderabadi nobility. Divani restores iconic silhouettes including the khada dupatta (revered for its structured drape and sculptural presence) restored with emphasis on volume, form, and intricate zardozi craftsmanship and the farshi gharara revived in its full inherited regality, executed through traditional tukdi and chatta-patti techniques and layered with rich embroidery.

The collection also reintroduces the brand’s legacy techniques — kutki, motichoor, farisha and heirloom weaves — rangkat — all reinterpreted with precision while preserving their intricacy. Every ensemble is meticulously handcrafted using pure copper and options for silver or gold zari, highlighting Divani’s dedication to enduring karigari.

Beyond couture, Divani offers a larger commitment to craft through The Zardoz Project—a cornerstone initiative dedicated to preserving and revitalising the art of zardozi. This project reflects the brand’s role as both custodian and catalyst, where they work and support over 500 zardozikars across traditional craft clusters while creating meaningful and sustained opportunities.

Transforming couture into a medium of storytelling, Divani strengthens belief that true luxury lies in the preservation of artistry and the celebration of handwork. Speaking on the launch, Sanya Dhir, Founder and Creative Director, Divani, shares

What we owe to our future is our past. With Divani’s Hyderabad flagship, we wanted to bring this philosophy to life, where heritage is not merely preserved but reimagined in its full glory. From the architectural narrative to the intricate zardozi ceiling & panelling, every element reflects our commitment to making the past relevant for the future, allowing craft, couture, and culture to co-exist in a dialogue that feels both timeless and contemporary.”

With the opening of its Hyderabad flagship, Divani stands as a testament to shared language of craftsmanship and elegance that seamlessly blends with the cultural tapestry of a city that continues to transform contemporary expression in a nuanced form.
