Amey Wagh reflects on the success of Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam

Some films entertain, some evoke nostalgia, and a rare few manage to spark a larger cultural conversation. For actor Amey WaghKrantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam turned out to be one of those rare stories one that went beyond its theatrical success to resonate deeply with audiences across generations.

Amey said, “I always had confidence in the film, but when I first read the script, I felt it would deeply connect with audiences because it instantly brought back memories of my own school days. I realised that these emotions wouldn’t resonate only with students from Marathi-medium schools, but even with those who studied in English-medium schools, because school memories are universal.”

Amey also shares that the film’s success reinforces his responsibility to support stories that celebrate Marathi culture and identity. “This subject has always been important to me, and I have always felt a sense of responsibility towards it. Marathi cinema consistently represents and promotes Marathi culture, language, Maharashtra’s legacy, and traditions. That is why I consciously put in even greater effort to ensure that such stories continue to reach audiences and help further promote our culture.”
