Bank of India Hosts All-India Rajbhasha Seminar

The Official Language Department, Head Office, Bank of India, hosted an All-India Official Language Seminar on 7th February 2026, in the presence of the Bank’s top management and Official Language representatives from various financial institutions. The seminar aimed to promote effective implementation and encourage creative writing in Hindi as the Bank’s Official Language.

The event was attended by Executive Directors Shri P. R. Rajagopal, Shri Rajiv Mishra, and Shri Pramod Kumar Dwivedi, along with Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Vishnu Kumar Gupta. Renowned actor and writer Shri Akhilendra Mishra graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Keynote addresses were delivered by Shri Harish Singh Chauhan, Deputy Director, Regional Implementation Office (West), Ministry of Home Affairs, and Prof. Karunashankar Upadhyay, Head of the Hindi Department, University of Mumbai. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, with welcome addresses by General Manager Shri Vishwajit Mishra and Chief General Manager Shri Abhijit Bose.

Executive Director Shri Rajiv Mishra emphasized that Hindi is not only a language of administration but also a powerful medium for expressing emotions, thoughts, and culture. He highlighted the Bank’s creative and technological initiatives to promote Hindi.

On the occasion of World Hindi Day 2026, the Bank released a compilation of the best essays from the Inter-Bank Hindi Essay Writing Competition titled “Bhaarateey Arthavyavastha Aur Aadhunik Bainking: Data, Bhaasha Aur Gen Z”, along with the December 2025 issue of the Bank’s in-house Hindi magazine BOI Varta and the Hindi edition of the Instruction Manual . Winners of the essay competition were felicitated with certificates and prizes. Ms. Mou Maitra, Assistant General Manager (Official Language), presented the Bank’s achievements in Official Language implementation.

During the discussion session, Shri Harish Singh Chauhan spoke on Hindi language and linguistics, while Prof. Karunashankar Upadhyay detailed the standard scientific methodology of Hindi. Guest of Honour Shri Akhilendra Mishra highlighted the interconnection between language, literature, and life, emphasizing the simplicity, communicative strength, and cultural significance of Hindi.

The seminar marked a significant step towards strengthening the Bank’s Official Language policy and promoting wider use of Hindi. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Captain Akhilesh Kumar, Deputy General Manager.
