Red Lorry Film Festival and Institut Français Unveils French IP Market for Film and Series Adaptations

The Red Lorry Film Festival announced that it will host a dedicated marketplace for scripted Intellectual Properties aimed at the Asian market, further strengthening its role as a platform for international creative exchange. This initiative is supported by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Institut français, and forms part of France’s strategic efforts to promote the international export of its Cultural and Creative Industries.

Conceived as the French IP Market, the initiative responds to the growing appetite across India and South East Asia for proven, high value IPs with strong adaptation potential across film, television, animation and digital formats. The marketplace is designed to connect French rights holders directly with Asian decision makers through curated presentations, focused discussions around successful case studies, individual meetings and dedicated networking opportunities.

A carefully selected slate of French companies and IP owners will participate in the market, including Goodfellas Films, Le Pacte, Banijay Kids, MK2, La Belle Télé, France Films TV, Mediatoon, Matriochkas, Lukarn, PitStop Studio, Fayard, Robert Laffont, Habebo Studios, Maremako and Astier Pêcher. These companies represent a broad range of cinematic, television, animation and publishing IPs with a strong track record in international markets.

The French IP Market will bring together distributors, broadcasters, streaming platforms and literary agents from across India and South East Asia, positioning the region as a key growth territory for French scripted IPs seeking local adaptations, co production opportunities and long term partnerships.

The 2026 edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival will also showcase a number of French films including Case 137, Colours of Time, Nino and The Orphans among others. The section will be part of the Rendezvous With French Cinema program.

Speaking about the initiative, Ashish Saksena, Festival Director of Red Lorry Film Festival and COO Cinemas at BookMyShow, said, “The French IP Market aligns perfectly with Red Lorry Film Festival’s ambition to be a meaningful industry platform for Asia. France has an extraordinary depth of storytelling and IP that travels well across cultures. By creating a focused marketplace within the festival, we are enabling concrete conversations between creators and buyers, and helping accelerate collaborations that can translate into compelling local adaptations for Asian audiences.”

Mathieu Béjot, Attaché for Audiovisual, Cinema and Digital Content at the French Institute in India, added, “Partnering with Red Lorry Film Festival allows us to place French creators and rights holders at the heart of one of Asia’s most dynamic content markets. The French IP Market is designed to foster long term creative and business relationships while showcasing the diversity, strength and adaptability of French IPs.”

With this initiative, Red Lorry Film Festival continues to expand its industry footprint while creating new pathways for French creative content to connect with and resonate across Asian markets.
