India Electronics and Semiconductor Association Highlights India’s Quantum Push on World Quantum Day 2026

April 17: On the occasion of World Quantum Day 2026, the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) underscored a significant milestone in India’s transition from a technology adopter to a global technology leader. The launch of India’s first Quantum Test and Reference Facilities in Amaravati, under the Quantum Valley initiative, marks a critical step in building foundational capabilities in next-generation computing.

The initiative, led by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, reflects a strong commitment to advancing technology sovereignty by developing core infrastructure—including compute, materials, and systems—within the country.

Commenting on the development, Ashok Chandak, President of IESA, emphasized the pivotal role of semiconductors in enabling the quantum revolution. He noted that critical components such as cryogenic control electronics, advanced chip design, packaging, and precision manufacturing form the backbone of scalable quantum systems. With India’s growing strengths in semiconductor design, emerging fabrication initiatives, and the momentum generated by the National Quantum Mission, the country is well-positioned to co-develop quantum hardware domestically.

IESA reiterated its focus on ensuring that India’s Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem evolves in tandem with the nation’s quantum ambitions spanning design, fabrication, packaging, and testing of quantum-class hardware within India.

As India accelerates efforts to scale quantum capabilities in the coming years, the integration of semiconductor innovation, advanced materials, and system engineering will be critical. IESA highlighted its long-standing vision of positioning India as a Product Nation, Production Nation, and Skills Nation, and called for the addition of a fourth dimension transforming India into a Quantum Nation.

Anchored in trusted supply chains, indigenous innovation, and global leadership in deep-tech, India’s quantum journey is poised to unlock new frontiers in science, technology, and economic growth.
