Completed 1,261 km journey to world’s highest motorable pass without support driver
BENGALURU, Aug 10: “Disability is not inability.” With that message, Dr. Krishna B S, a 15-year educator with Deeksha Vedantu, was felicitated in Bengaluru on Saturday for setting a new India Book of Records title for the Longest Car Journey to Umling La by a Specially Abled Individual.
The felicitation was held at Deeksha Vedantu’s KMWA PU College in Mahalakshmipuram. Mr. Harish R from India Book of Records presented the official certificate to Dr. Krishna in the presence of students, faculty and dignitaries.
Dr. Krishna, drove over 1,261 km in 10 days solo and without a support driver from Chandigarh through Zojila Pass, Kargil, Leh and Hanle, before reaching Umling La at 19,024 ft, the highest motorable pass in the world.
“I didn’t take on this drive to set a record. I took it on because I wanted everyone to see, not just hear, that disability is not inability,” Dr Krishna said.“Every pass, every kilometre was a lesson. I hope it inspires my students to never set limits to their dreams.”
Known among Deeksha students as much for his classroom work as for his discipline as a national-level bodybuilder, Dr. Krishna said the expedition was an extension of the same belief he teaches: that effort matters more than assumptions.
For Deeksha Vedantu, the record is being seen as a milestone that mirrors its own ethos. “Deeksha Vedantu has been home for 15 years. It’s where I found that teaching and proving are the same act,” he added.The India Book of Records team said the title recognizes “extraordinary feats by extraordinary people,” and noted that this one was earned not in a stadium, but across some of India’s most unforgiving terrain.
The record-attempt vehicle was also displayed at the venue following the ceremony.
