Nand Ghar launches Nand Ghar ka Mission, Sampoorn Poshan for Poshan Maah 2026

New Delhi, Sep 09: Ahead of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026, Nand Ghar, the flagship initiative of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, Vedanta’s social impact arm, today launched ‘Nand Ghar Ka Mission, Sampoorn Poshan’, building on the Government of India’s continued efforts under Poshan Abhiyaan 2.0 to make nutrition a Jan Andolan and drive collective action towards better nutrition outcomes. The month-long national observance reflects the Government’s sustained focus on taking the nutrition agenda to communities and encouraging families, institutions and citizens to make nutrition a shared responsibility. Extending this vision on the ground, ‘Nand Ghar Ka Mission, Sampoorn Poshan’ will engage children, mothers, fathers, Nand Ghar Didis and communities across 15,000+ Nand Ghars in 18 states, reinforcing the belief that true nutrition security goes beyond a full plate to creating a healthier environment around every child.

Nand Ghar is transforming India’s Anganwadi ecosystem through modern, tech-enabled centres that bring together nutrition, early childhood care and education, primary healthcare and women’s empowerment under one roof. This integrated approach recognises that a child’s well-being is shaped not only by what they eat, but also by the knowledge, care and support available to them and their families.

A key example of this community-led approach is Nand Ghar’s Mother’s Food Preparation Programme, which brings mothers into the nutrition journey by enabling them to prepare nutritious meals using locally available ingredients at Nand Ghars. With nearly 2 lakh mothers engaged cumulatively and close to 15 lakh meals supported, the programme demonstrates how empowering mothers with the right knowledge and an active role in meal preparation can strengthen everyday nutrition practices and contribute to better health and well-being for children and families.

Shri Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Group, said,

“I have always believed that Poshan is about giving every child the right start in life. When you add shiksha and sanskar to that, the foundation for a productive life is laid in the first six years. Our Shastras have said this. Women are 50% of our population. When they are empowered and have financial independence, the impact on family, society and economy will be transformational. This is the dream behind Nand Ghar. Today, with 15,000+ Nand Ghars across 18 states, transforming the lives of over 5 lakh children and 4 lakh women, that dream is becoming a reality. In partnership with the central and state governments and the communities around us, we can take this movement to every corner of India and build a healthier, stronger generation.”

Building on this vision, ‘Nand Ghar Ka Mission, Sampoorn Poshan’ brings nutrition to life through a series of community-led activations designed to connect knowledge with everyday action.

Grow for Poshan will include Poshan Vatika Plantation Drives and Poshan Vatika Cooking, using kitchen gardens at Nand Ghars to connect children and mothers with local food production and take them through the journey from seed to plate. Cook for Poshan will see Nand Ghar chefs prepare nutritious, locally relevant and visually appealing meals, while celebrating traditional ingredients and recipes.

Supplement for Poshan will complement these efforts through the distribution of fresh fruits and fortified nutrition supplements to children, reinforcing the importance of diverse and nutrient-rich diets. The initiative will also showcase Nand Ghar’s wider nutrition interventions, including millet-based Nutri Bars, fortified nutrition supplements, and the scientific approach to tackling malnutrition through Project Balvardhan.

Recognising that lasting nutrition outcomes also depend on knowledge and family participation, Learn for Poshan will focus on building nutrition literacy among adolescent girls, particularly around anaemia and iron intake. Family for Poshan, through Papa Ka Poshan, will bring fathers and daughters together around nutrition-related activities, reinforcing that responsibility for a child’s nutrition extends across the family. Community Pledges will further encourage individuals and communities to turn awareness into action by making and tracking their own nutrition commitments.

Shashi Arora, CEO, Nand Ghar, said,

“Nutrition doesn’t stop at the Nand Ghar gate; it travels home with every mother, father and child. That is the philosophy behind Nand Ghar, and it is closely aligned with our Chairman Shri Anil Agarwal’s vision of ensuring that every child gets the right nutrition and that no one goes to bed hungry. The 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah under Poshan Abhiyaan 2.0 is a powerful reminder of the Government of India’s commitment to making nutrition a Jan Andolan, bringing together families, communities and institutions to make better nutrition a shared responsibility. Our Mother’s Food Preparation Programme has already shown us what is possible when nearly 2 lakh mothers become active participants in their children’s nutrition. This Poshan Maah, we are taking that spirit of participation further, bringing families and communities into the journey through cooking, learning and shared action, so that better nutrition becomes a lasting habit that moves from Nand Ghar to every home.”

Together, these interventions bring multiple dimensions of nutrition security under one roof, food and supplementation, maternal participation, nutrition education, family engagement, local food systems, hygiene and convergence with government programmes. The approach combines the science of nutrition with the everyday behaviours and community participation needed to make healthier choices sustainable.

Through ‘Nand Ghar Ka Mission, Sampoorn Poshan’, Nand Ghar aims to demonstrate that nutrition security is created not only by what reaches a child’s plate, but also by the knowledge, choices, practices and people that surround the child. The initiative seeks to make healthier nutrition a habit that travels from Nand Ghar to every home, turning Poshan Maah into a catalyst for sustained, everyday action.
